These terms cover the free research tool and any paid research we do for you.

The free tool

The tool is free to use, with no account and no limit on the size of your tree, and it is going to stay that way. It is provided as it is. It reads the public ship’s lists and applies the rules for decoding colonial registration numbers, but those records contain errors, gaps and inconsistent spellings that no software can resolve. A result from the tool is a lead to verify, not a proven fact.

Because your data never reaches us, we cannot restore a tree you have lost. Keep your own exported copy.

Paid research

Prices are quoted per job before any work starts, and include 15% VAT. We work from the documents and records available. Where the records will not support a finding we tell you so and say what is missing, rather than filling the gap with a guess — an unsourced link is worth nothing to a consulate, and we do not supply one.

Turnaround times given with a quote are estimates. Archive visits and third-party record requests are outside our control.

What we do not promise

We are genealogical researchers. We are not immigration advisers or lawyers, and nothing here is legal or immigration advice. Whether an application for Overseas Citizenship of India succeeds is decided by the Indian authorities on the evidence put before them. We can document a line to the standard they ask for. We cannot guarantee an outcome, and we do not submit applications on your behalf.

The content on this site

The research tool, the writing on this site and any report we produce for you remain ours. A report we deliver is yours to keep, print and share within your family, and to submit with an application. It may not be resold or published as a commercial product without our agreement.
